Our cat Olly has not been eating much since November. We took him to the vet in December and found out he had lost 6 pounds. The vet did some blood tests and put him on some special food, which he really did not eat. I brought him back this week and we found out that he has a feline virus for which there is no cure. The vet gave him sometime to try and stimutale his appetite, but as of today he was still not eating very much. The vet called to see how he was doing and offered to try a cortizone treatment, but that might only give him a few more weeks. So we said our goodbyes and put him down today. He will be very missed, as he was the best of cats. But we are remembering how he liked to sleep in odd places, including the bathtub and underwear drawer. And how he loved to come and listen to bedtime stories with the kids. The timing is good since we are going on vacation on Saturday to Calgary for a week and we will have other stuff to keep us busy.
