Kitchen Renovation

Today was the day that our kitchen renovation began.

Here is what the kitchen looked like this morning before the contractor arrived:

The men arrived just around 8:00 am and started ripping things off the walls. Here is what it looked like around 10:00, when they stepped outside for a little break:

They left around just before noon. Here is how it looked when they left:

I was impressed with how fast and efficient they were at getting all the stuff off and out. They are coming back tomorrow to plaster or do some other stuff. The cabinets will be here on Thursday. He is also going to install a ceramic back splash over the counter tops for a bit extra money.

I am very hopeful that we will have a kitchen again on the weekend, although the painter is supposed to come on Monday to paint, so I may wait until he is all done to get set up again.

But it is EXTREMELY exciting....

I was wondering how the renovations were going. They sure do work fast. It will be worth it to have the back splash done now while everything is already out of the kitchen.

On Thursday at 6 am the cabinets were delivered, and at 7 am the installers arrived, and finsihing installer 99% of the cabinets in about 5 hours. On Friday the contractor came early in the morning, and worked all day alone. He installed the dishwasher, the sink, and finished all the pumbling, and put in a few mouldings. He still needs to instal the microwave fan, and the backsplash on Monday when the painter is coming. Bell Canada is coming on Sunday to move our phone line. The installer that came Thursday said we are missing a drawer for our pantry, and one piece of wood for a kickboard, and the contrator needs to speaks to the sales manager about the appropriate way to close out the top of our pantry as it needs a small piece of drywall to finish it off.

So we're almost there...I'm testing the dishwasher as I type. Mark

We've seen the "before" and the "during" I'm anxiously awaiting the "after" pics. This is exciting ... must be why my blood pressure is high this week and I had to get new meds
