Morgan's 7th Birthday Party

On Saturday our handsome young gentleman turned 7 years old! We had a birthday party to celebrate.

His friends came over and the first thing they had to do was make their explorer's vest and bags:

Then they got to go on a creature hunt to find the camouflaged frogs, lizards and snakes hiding in our basement:

Morgan recevied one of his favorite movies from his friends Xavier and Nathaniel

Morgan with his best girl, Katie:

But the highlight of the party was a visit from the Reptile Lady from Fine Line Serpents. She brought a collection of critters for the kids to see and touch. This is a little gecko:

Morgan, being the birthday boy, got to hold everything, but all the kids were very well behaved so everyone had a turn holding each of the creatures she brought.

Even Jarad took a turn at holding each animal that came around.

Morgan had been asking for the animals for his birthday since he saw a show with this company in March at his Beaver meeting. Here he is with some of his favorites:

The finale of the regular visit is a hugh snake. This is Lucius, a kind of python. He was very big, very friendly and really active.

All the kids had the chance to hold Lucius

Even Jarad tried, and the snake weighs a lot more than he does!

As an extra surprise, we asked for one additional animal to come. This is Felix, a 7 foot Water Monitor lizard. Water monitors are the second largest lizards in the world (Kimono dragons taking first place). Morgan got to spend the most time with Felix.

My three kids with Felix. not everyone got to sit with Felix since he doesn't always come out for shows and will run if he gets scared.

After the serpent people had left, Morgan got to blow out his candles. Here is the cake he helped me make. Appropropriate, don't you think!

It was a really great party. It is the first time that sweeping up snake scales was part of my after party clean up! But most of all I think Morgan really had fun. Happy Birthday my Big big boy.

Looks like an awesome party. I don't think I've seen Morgan smile so much as in these pictures. Pretty cool have the big snake come to the house. I don't know if I would be so brave! I can see your birthday was a good one!
