This morning Barney couldn't go out because there was a raccoon that had knocked over the birdseed and was refusing to leave. I started clapping loudly and he ran up the tree instead of out of the yard.
We have had raccoons this year in our backyard flipping our garbage can. I had a shock one night walking into the kitchen and seeing a raccoon on the deck! They are scared of me though and ran away.
