Get Lost

On Monday, after having spent Sat. & Sun. in the house preparing for the family dinner, I wanted to get outdoors. A couple of years back I had heard of this place called McMaze (http://www.mcmaze.ca/). There are all kinds of neat mazes to try. So my friend Kelly and her kids came along for the day to see what we could find.

The farm is located in St. Andrew's Ontario, right near Penny and Glenn's old stomping grounds. We arrived right at noon and the first order of business was getting some lunch. They had a concession stand where you could get hot dogs, chips, baked potatoes and all manner of sundry goodies. But the cool part was that you got to cook your hot dogs over a campfire. Here are Morgan and Shea cooking their dogs:

After lunch, we tackled our first maze, the corn field. We had to find 10 stations and answer a question on fire safety at each one. Here is Jarad leading the way:

We had a break after the big corn maze and then tried the smaller door maze. Kelly and the kids watched the Pig races while I got some drinks from the car. Then we took a guided walk in the haunted forest. Our guide was this interesting looking fellow:

Here is Morgan with one of the ghosts of the haunted forest. Not too scary, just lots of corny jokes!

This is Ariel outside the door maze which we went through a few times. You had to open door after door to find your way out.

Beautiful displays of pumpkins and gourds decorated the grounds

The kids are sitting on some big bales of hay. Left to right: Jarad sitting on Shea, Faith, Ariel and Morgan

Here are the kids again in the McMaze sign

And the kids yet again with some pumpkins.

There was also a haunted barn, a haze maze which was in dark and spooky fog, a maze where you had to figure your way out only going straight or turning right and a tall grass maze which we didn't do.

After dark, the cornfield turns into a haunted maze as well, but that is only recommended for kids older that 12.

We had a wonderful day. The weather was just perfect and we all loved the time outdoors.
