Once it was finally dark enough, we headed over to see the Chinese Lantern display. it was raining a bit, but it was a warm night. We had our rain jackets and umbrellas and managed to stay somewhat dry.

The theme this year was called : Between Heaven and Earth, and here is the description from the Gardens:
Between Heaven and Earth features two legends that pay tribute to the desire for harmony between two different worlds. The first one tells the passionate love story of Yunü, the daughter of the king of the celestial universe, and Hai Peng, a simple, very human, young fisherman. This legend will be illustrated by fabulously shaped lanterns representing sea creatures and mythical figures.
The second legend brings to life two of the best-known figures in Chinese folklore. After accidentally drinking an elixir of immortality, the lovely Chang E flew up to the moon in front her horrified husband eyes', the archer Yi. Enormous, carefully detailed lanterns will represent Yi galloping after the tearful Chang E as she flies off toward the moon with no hope of ever returning.

And here is Morgan once again. Morgan decided this was much more fun than just lighting a few candles on the dinner table!
We had a fabulous day at the Botanical Gardens and are now waiting for our next family adventure.
