The Flowers Are Starting to Arrive

Our flowers in the front yard tend to be slow bloomers because the crab apple trees shade the front garden quite a bit. But we are starting to see some flowers "springing" to life.

The apple blossoms have not appeared on the tree in the front, but the buds are out:

We now have about 7 tulips:

These little flowers are hiding among the grass:

And beautiful flower or annoying weed? I guess it all depends on your perspective. If you are a lawn maniac or avid gardener, these little blooms are the enemy. But if you are a young lad of either almost 4 or 6, they become a beautiful flower for mommy that you are actually allowed to pick, as opposed to all that other tempting, untouchable stuff in the garden. As of late I have found my sun hat and lapels adorned with these bright little flowers:

"Rise up, my love, my fair one, and come away.
For, lo, the winter is past, the rain is over and gone;
The flowers appear on the earth; the time of the singing of birds is come, and the voice of the turtle is heard in our land."

Song of Solomon 2:10-12

Spring has sprung. Just in time for Mother's Day.

I have one lonely red tulip but lots of lush green hosta in the garden and little blue and white violets peeping up even in the grass.
