Our Weekend in Vermont

Mark took a vacation day last Friday and we picked the kids up at school around noon and headed towards Lake Bomoseen in Vermont to meet some friends for a weekend of camping.

We followed the MapQuest directions which took us a different route than we've taken before. This was the bridge we took into Vermont:

On Saturday, we found a grocery store in Rutland to pick up supplies for the weekend. We drove around to explore the town and noticed a interesting looking toy shop and naturally had to stop to investigate. There was an older man, who looked almost like Santa with a big white beard, at the back of the shop who made some of the most elaborate wooden toys. A bit expensive (one wooden train, with 10 cars, sold around $225.. But probably a good deal with all the work that went into it). Here are the kids with some of the items on display outside the store:

Our plans were to share a pot luck dinner with my e-pal Cathy. Cathy and I met in a quilting chat room sometime around 1996 and have been pen pals ever since. Her family enjoys camping as well so we planned this weekend to meet for the first time.

Here are Cathy and her husband Ken in their RV

And this is me and Cathy.

We had a great dinner and conversation while our kids and Cathy's two girls found stuff to do together. Made plans to spend the next day together and then ended our first full day away.
