Museum of Civilization - Part 1

Wednesday morning we headed out to see the Canadian Museum of Civlization in Hull.

Here are Ariel and Morgan looking down on the Great Hall soon after we arrived:

Jarad really liked this piece of artwork made with fabric. It was very sparkly and he thought it looked like outer space.

This ceramic turtle is a planter and the flowers are meant to grow out of the holes in the top of it's shell:

Morgan looks a bit like a giggalo on this kiss shaped couch. It was in the postal museum, taking about the role the postal service had in delivering love letters to separated sweethearts:

Here are the kids drawing pictures that might actually be selected to go on a future stamp. Ariel really liked to Postal section since she enjoys collecting stamps. There was a display by year of some of the stamps that came out in that particular year. It was interesting to see that in 2000 there were lots of dragons stamps since it was the Chinese year of the dragon and also the year our dragon loving Morgan was born. And in 2003 (Jarad's birth year) there was a series on Canadian astronaughts. Ariel was sad that the horse stamps were in 1999 instead of 1998.

In the Great Hall is a lot of First People's art. Totem poles and carvings. Ariel is coming out of the back room which has some of the smaller pieces displayed.

Jenny and Jarad in front of a beaver:

One of the cool totem poles.

More pictures to come...
